Holiday Freebies – Part 3

As the final Patterns for Pirates holiday freebie, I’m happy to share this blanket scarf!  In reality it’s not exactly a pattern, more of a general how-to “guideline”.

The tutorial recommends anywhere from 1.5 – 2 yards; for mine I used 2 yards, 45″ wide.  It also suggests cutting the fabric into a square, but I didn’t do that, since I am tall and like bulky scarves.  This one is a rayon flannel blend from Joann Fabrics…I got it during the Black Friday sale.  I was so excited because I don’t have a Joann’s super close to me, so I don’t usually go there.  However, there is one near my in-laws so since we were staying with them I convinced my husband we had to stop by. πŸ™‚

I left the edges frayed intentionally, which is how they were when the fabric came out of the dyer.  So basically, all I did was iron the fabric.  And then style it by folding it into a large triangle, and wrap it until I was cozy.  So I can unequivocally say it is the easiest pattern ever.  Not to mention, super warm because it’s flannel.  If you’re desperately seeking a last minute gift idea, this is it!

Also, these camo joggers will be coming to my Etsy shop in limited quantities after the New Year.  So keep an eye out for those!  They’re made from insanely soft double brushed poly…so pretty much the most comfortable pants ever.

I’m trying to look happy and “I love winter!”…but my hands were seriously freezing (it was 14 degrees).  Hope I fooled you. πŸ™‚  This is also the first time I’ve stepped out of the house in four days since I’ve been sick…gotta love winter in Chicago!
