Men’s Finlayson Sweater: Part 2

I’m back again, for the second edition of the Thread Theory Finlayson Sweater!  True to the name, this time I used a hacci sweater knit (last time I used a french terry).

Brian picked out this sweater knit fabric from my stash, which I previously used for a few Cocoon Cardigans.  I bought too much, so this was a perfect use for it!  I love it when I have a fabric which can be used for either me or Brian.

It worked out well, plus he likes it because its super soft.  It has a decent drape and at first I wasn’t sure if it would be “manly” enough because of this, but I actually really like it how it turned out.  I used a french terry for the collar though, because I think that the hacci would just be too floppy.  I know I could have used interfacing, but I didn’t have enough on hand so decided to go with another fabric.  Turns out I think the contrast is a nice touch. 🙂

But…I SWEAR I cut the front of the neckline exactly mirrored, yet somehow the plaid print ended up a little off center.  Please say you didn’t notice until I pointed it out.  Lie if you have to.

Anyway, overall I’m pretty pleased with this piece and certainly pleased with the pattern.  For more details on the construction, check out my first post.  I know I’ll make more, I really want to make him one with more of a bulky sweater knit and a little bone and leather loop button on the collar.  You know what I mean?  We’ll see if I get around to it before it starts getting warm.  Ha!  Who am I kidding…it’ll be cold until May if Chicago weather keeps it course.

Plus side: I’ll have plenty of time to sew more. 🙂

Looks great. And *lies* no, I didn’t notice a thing. 🙄 But you know, most rtw is off like this one. If you are too upset about it, make another one or give this a new, slightly wider collar. Most people won’t notice though.

I totally didn’t notice. I’m sure if I’d made it, it would be screaming at me…and everyone would tell me I’m crazy. So I’m here to tell you that you’re crazy. 😉 It looks great!
