Reverse Staining Wood | Engagement Map

February 2, 2018February 4, 20182 Comments

Did you know you can use the Silhouette Cameo to create a stencil to stop stain from applying to wood?!  Neither did I, until this idea popped into my head, and it worked!  Read below for a tutorial. My brother and his fiance recently got engaged...on a remote hiking trail in the middle of the Smokey … Continue reading Reverse Staining Wood | Engagement Map

Custom Fabric Applique Raglan

January 23, 2018January 24, 201816 Comments

Are you ready for my favorite shirt of 2018?!  Well, I've only sewed 3 this year so far but this one easily tops the list and probably will for a while! Yes, I made those floral designs and cut them out of crushed velvet using my Silhouette Cameo!  Back in October I took this picture … Continue reading Custom Fabric Applique Raglan

Birthday Newcastle Cardigan

November 26, 2017November 25, 2017Leave a comment

I've had my eye on the Thread Theory Newcastle Cardigan for Brian ever since I first started sewing (2 years ago!).  It always seemed a bit too complicated so I never attempted it until now.  Well, I sewed it for Brian's birthday in September, but we weren't able to get any pictures until now.  First … Continue reading Birthday Newcastle Cardigan

I think this is the first year I’m not sewing at midnight on October 30th. 😂 I really wanted to get a few pictures before the rain came here in the PNW so that was a good motivation. Anyway Pooh and Piglet wish you a happy Halloween! 🎃

Looking at my feed made me realize I hadn’t posted here in over a year! But really I don’t expect anyone to see this because I know Instagram hates posts. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But in that timespan I grew and birthed another baby boy, we moved to the Pacific Northwest and I hardly sewed anything. 😂 This linen faux-romper (fauxmper?) is one of my favorite makes though and it’s perfect for hot weather and staying cool. Anyway, just posting to say hi. I’m hoping maybe the dead rodent in the wall of my craft room will decompose ASAP so that I can enter the room without being nauseated. No big deal. What is with my sewing space and rodents?!??? 😭😭😭
This boy is definitely a snuggly one these days! He was always so squirmy and unsettled as a baby, it’s still surprising when he is like this now.
It’s been a while, but hopefully my “sewjo” has returned for the time being. The past few months have been very rough for a few reasons but...sewing is at the top of my self care list and so I’m trying to make it a priority! Easier said than done.
